The Birth of Create 4 Hope

10 01 2013

I suppose it started long ago… stitch by stitch, saw and hammer, point and shoot; all the time creating, but without goal or purpose. I am ever creating or learning to create. It is my therapy, no expensive specialist to engage; just a desire to learn a new skill and keep my hands busy….you know, “She works with her hands in delight.”

Years later, with bags and boxes full of things made with my own hands and a computer drive full of photos, I wonder if somehow my personal therapy sessions could be of value to someone else. Not in the way you might think. Oh yes, you may enjoy the necklace, bracelet, ring or purse. You may enjoy the photograph on your wall. But that’s not the value I’m speaking of. Can I create to bring hope to someone in a dark place?

I think I can…I think I can….

What if I sold the jewelry I’ve made, continue to create more and use it all to bring hope to someone else? What if I donate all I earn to help someone who is hungry, or thirsty…or just needs a hand up. Imagine if I sold enough to finance a tutor or even a college scholarship for someone who otherwise would not have the opportunity to be successful? What if I could help a single mom find independence through job training or education? What if I could create to help keep a roof over their head or food on their table while they get their feet under them?

What if I could CREATE to bring hope?

It is a win-win situation….

I continue on with my therapy sessions, hammering and stitching away, and someone else sees a light at the end of the tunnel.  I am blessed beyond what I could ever deserve or desire.  I am driven to share it with someone who needs a ray of hope.

Imagine if others would join me…
